Bronze Star Inc. is on a mission. A farming mission. “Grow the best possible fruit, with the best possible people, in the best possible way.”

Bronze Star Inc. has been operating in Tonasket, Washington since 1925. Currently owned and operated by Geoff Thornton, the family farm grows apples and pears for national distribution while their apricots and peaches are available for local sales. Starting with 20 acres, Bronze Star has nearly a century of experience, over four generations, adapting to changing trends in agriculture.

One trend that Bronze Star adopted was embracing technology to grow its operation.

Farming alongside Geoff is his daughter, Kaitlyn, who has been learning to manage the family farming operation.

Kaitlyn says, “I’m really excited about tech and agriculture because I am the next generation.” She credits FieldClock’s farm labor management software as a huge help growing the family’s operation. Bronze Star’s orchards now span 400 acres over the Okanogan Valley.

She adds, “…we’re getting actionable data. You can see that from a screen’s point of view, and [it really helps] with that management side.”

In the peak season, Bronze Star manages over 60 employees.

According to Geoff, “payroll used to take probably a day and a half” when using the traditional farm labor management method of pen and paper.

Kaitlyn: “You’re literally having to carve into your family time, carve into your sleep schedule…”

Geoff: “[now] doing it in an hour and a half made it simple.

FieldClock doesn’t just help the Thornton family; Bronze Stars employees also are feeling the positive effects of the farm labor management software.

Rosie Bello appreciates the time flexibility FieldClock offers her in her role as Bronze Star’s Housing and Payroll Manager. Now that her payroll responsibilities no longer take two to three days, she can spend some time away from her desk and back with her family. Now, she can finalize payroll in the morning and attend her daughter’s games in the afternoon.

Foreman Cesar Bello sums it up: it makes his life easy.

Using FieldClock, “it’s made the complex simple for my operation,” according to Geoff.

“Ten to one investment.”

FieldClock was built by farmers, for farmers. Stories like these from Bronze Star keep us doing what we do: helping farmers solve the real problems they face daily on their farms.
